QUALIFICATONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Please clearly demonstrate on your cover letter and resume, how you meet the following qualifications and experience:

Bachelor of Education or equivalent with specialization in elementary (K-7);

Recent experience teaching students within grades 5-7 is an asset;

Experience in teaching a diverse population of elementary students, adapting curriculum, implementation of assessment for learning and differentiating content, processes, and products to meet student needs;

Experience in developing and implementing Student Learning Plans, Behaviour Support Plans and Safety Plans;

Experience in, restorative practices, trauma-informed care, and experience in behavior management responding to student needs in the social/emotional domains;

Experience working in a First Nations setting and in teaching First Nations students;

Experience in leading a variety of outdoor education activities is an asset;DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND SUITABILITY:

Candidates should have and may be assessed on their:

Excellent interpersonal, communication and collaborative skills for working with students, parents, staff members, consultants and related agencies;

A philosophy of inclusive education; excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaborative skills to work closely with students, staff, parents, consultants, related agencies, and the greater community in meeting the social, emotional and academic needs of all students;

Strong classroom management and organizational skills;

Strong numeracy skills, familiarity with research-based practices, and a willingness to implement the School Growth Plan on Literacy for reading and writing;

Willingness to plan and implement Project-Based Learning;

Demonstrated ability to incorporate experiential learning and cultural practices into the curriculum;

A knowledge of & sensitivity to the culture & aspirations of the First Nations people of Yukon and a culturally diverse student population is required;

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

To be a Teacher in Yukon, you must be certified in another Canadian province/territory first.

Successful applicants will be required to undergo a security/vulnerable sector check.
