We are currently seeking a talented individual to join the Jack Hulland Elementary School team. JHES acknowledges and respects, and are grateful for the opportunity to work, learn and play within the traditional territories of the Kwanlin Dn First Nation and the Taan Kwchn Council. Jack Hulland Elementary is a Kindergarten to Grade 7 neighborhood school aiming to foster a welcoming, safe, and inclusive educational environment; one where each student is supported to meet their full potential. This position provides an opportunity to join the JHES administration team as a Permanent 1.0 FTE Vice Principal as JHES continues its growth as a Ready to Learn School, using the Neurosequential Model in Education to drive our practice

Possession of, or coursework towards, a Masters Degree in Education or equivalent in educational leadership and/or elementary curriculum.

Three years experience as a school administrator, providing teachers and school-based staff with instructional leadership, supervision, mentorship and evaluation.

Experience working with First Nation students and communities.

Training related to the Neurosequential Model in Education (NME) informed practice.Desired knowledge, skills, and suitability

The ideal candidate will possess these qualifications, skills, and knowledge, but also demonstrate suitability for the role and organizational culture: Robust and practical leadership skills; demonstrated ability to motivate teachers and create a strong collaborative team.

A philosophy of inclusive education and excellent interpersonal, communication and collaborative skills working with parents, staff members, consultants and related agencies.

Desire and passion for developing and maintaining solid and respectful relationships and trust with students, their families, and the community.

Ability to implement effective support systems to assist at-risk students.

Solid communication and engagement skills, promoting community involvement in school-based activities, using the facilities and educational programming.

Work with the school community to create codes of conduct, define disciplinary policies and communicate procedures to students, staff, parents and the greater school community.

Communicate effectively with parents to develop a cooperative relationship to support the student in the school.Conditions of Employment

This is a designated position within the Yukon public service which requires the following condition(s) of employment:

Successful applicants will be required to undergo a security clearance including vulnerable sector check.

To be a Teacher in Yukon, you must be certified in another Canadian province/ territory first.

Yukon First Nations 101 to be completed within one year. Additional Information

If you are a permanent (indeterminate) teacher in a Yukon school, you will need to seek permission from your Superintendent to apply on this temporary job

Relocation may be available.
