INTERDIVISIONAL STUDENT SERVICES MONTCALM SCHOOL

INTENSIVE COMMUNITY REINTEGRATION SERVICE (ICRS) PROGRAM TEACHER

FULL-TIME 100% PERMANENT The classroom teacher will provide educational programming for neurodiverse adolescent students from metro divisions that have complex mental health concerns who are receiving comprehensive treatment from the multidisciplinary Child & Youth Treatment Services/Mental Health and Addictions/Shared Health team. The students have a primary diagnostic presentation of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and/or other diagnosis such as; Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Anxiety Disorder, Tourette Syndrome, Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD) and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD).

Working with the policies and procedures of Child & Youth Treatment Services/Mental Health and Addictions/Shared Health and the Winnipeg School Division, Montcalm School program goals are to continue the students course work through student specific and/or small group instruction. Programming will focus on supporting students in achieving growth in academics, communication, self-management, social and daily living skills. The multi-disciplinary team will facilitate the transition of students back to their community school upon discharge. The focus is on academics with an emphasis on Mathematics, English Language Arts, Science/Technology and Physical Education/Health. The program focuses on student safety, well-being and successful transition to and from community schools within Metro Winnipeg.

The successful candidate must have the proven ability to be flexible with constant changes, demonstrate an ability to work as part of a team, be able to multi-task and display excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Interdivisional Student Services teachers work collaboratively with on-site Child & Youth Treatment Services/Mental Health and Addictions/Shared Health staff. The Montcalm School Program Teacher is under the direction of the Principal & Vice-Principal of Interdivisional Student Services.

Start Date: September 3, 2024

Duties: Teach high quality academic programming aligned with the MB curriculum (Grades 4-11);

Provide a safe, caring learning environment for students who are clients of Child & Youth Treatment Services/Mental Health and Addictions/Shared Health;

Develop and implement prescribed interventions and/or differentiate instruction to meet the educational needs of neurodivergent students;

Prepare report cards and update IEP goals according to deadlines;

Differentiated instruction ;

Adaptations to curriculum/instruction and environment ;

Develop student specific plans that align with Child & Youth Treatment Services/Mental Health and Addictions/Shared Health IPP plans;

Attend team meetings as scheduled (weekly Clinical team meetings, intakes, discharge, etc.);

Collect data/indicators of success;

Work collaboratively with clinical staff (manager, psychiatrist, OT, nurses, MH workers and SW);

Prepare data monthly (EECL and WSD requirements) and assist in generating other reports;

Incorporate Indigenous Perspectives across curricula;

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Manitoba Teachers Certificate;

Proven ability to adapt, modify and implement student specific planning;

Special Needs and/or Resource experience an asset;

Certification in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NCI);

Minimum of 5 years teaching experience required;

Familiarity with self-regulation/management strategies;

Experience teaching at various grade levels;

Additional training in Trauma, MH, ASD and related areas would be an asset;

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a team;

Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students who have diagnosed mental/behavioural/neuro-development disorders;

Experience teaching students diagnosed with ASD preferred.
