LITERACY SUPPORT TEACHER (FAMILY OF SCHOOLS)

(3 POSITIONS)

FULL-TIME 100% PERMANENT

This is a full-time, permanent position. The Family of Schools Literacy Support Teacher works collaboratively with divisional family of schools interdisciplinary support teams to support schools in enhancing learning design and ensuring appropriate educational programming for all. Reporting to and under the direction of Family of Schools Liaison Superintendents, they assist and ensure that home schools provide the best possible inclusive, innovative, and responsive educational environments, pedagogy, and programming for children and youth.

Start Date: September 3, 2024

Duties: Ensuring that all students of Winnipeg School Division experience belonging, engagement and meaningful learning that will improve their life prospects and flourishing in their catchment school;

Prioritizing the work and learning priorities of the schools under the leadership of the principal and walking alongside teachers through co-planning and co-teaching;

Collaborating with a family of schools divisional support team made up of teachers, clinicians, and Indigenous Education and Settlement workers to provide multi-perspective supports for learning design;

Strengthening the capacity of educators within all WSD schools to design meaningful learning for all children at their home school;

Enacting a strength-based mindset believing all children have special needs and are gifted and working alongside teachers.

Decolonizing traditionally colonial models of teaching and learning and promoting knowledge of Indigenous perspectives and culture;

Demonstrating the ability to work with parents and guardians as an ally;

Maintaining partnerships with Manitoba Education and Early Childhood Learning

Using evidence based educational practices, guiding texts and research to inform the work with children, youth, families, and educators;

Demonstrated commitment to engagement, excellence, and equity.Qualifications: Manitoba Teachers Certificate;

Post Baccalaureate or Masters Degree in Education, work towards these, or developed knowledge and experience through other means

Minimum of 5 years successful teaching experience;

Significant experience as a teacher supporting children with diverse needs focusing on rigour, relevance and relationship at the centre of all planning for inclusion and deeper learning;

Experience working as a teacher-leader, IERT, or support teacher;

Knowledge of Manitoba Education and Early Childhood Learnings support documents;

Knowledge of a range of approaches to learning design, assessment practices, co-planning, and co-teaching.

Some representation of fluently bilingual (French and English) individuals with experience teaching in French Immersion contexts will be required within the divisional family of schools interdisciplinary support team.
