PROFESSIONAL LEARNING AND ENGAGEMENT SUPPORT TEACHER

(1 POSITION)

FULL-TIME 100% PERMANENT Under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent of Professional Learning, the Professional Learning and Engagement Support Teacher will be responsible for supporting the standards of professional practice, culture of learning, and engagement.Start Date: September 3, 2024Duties:

Mentor and coach the implementation of standards for professional practice and evidence- based education.

Work creatively and collaboratively with other Division Support Teachers to model and support the standards for professional practice.

Model, support and connect professional learning to the Mamhtawisiwin Planning Guide and the Calls to Action in the Truth and Reconciliation Report.

Nurture a culture of learning with equity, engagement and instruction that supports all students to be successful.

Use evidence-based educational practices, current research, and student learning data to inform the work with children, families and staff.

Support adult learning and mentoring Early Service Teachers, including the Teacher Mentors, while using a spiral of inquiry approach.

Support teacher engagement through facilitated sessions, co-teaching and guided inquiry in FOS in response to Teacher Learning Plans.

Facilitate mentor coaching and support professional development for department heads, teachers in charge, and school-based learning support teachers and others as needed.

Connect professional learning to the Divisions goal of ensuring all students of Winnipeg School Division experience belonging, engagement, and meaningful learning that will improve their life prospects and flourishing in their catchment schools.

Strengthen the capacity of educators within all WSD schools to hold onto all children at their home school.

Decolonize the classroom environment to support an inclusive and engaging learning environment.

Support the process to identify and coach teacher mentors

Facilitate teacher inquiry through problems of practice, collaboration and professional engagement

Qualifications:

Manitoba Teachers Certificate;

Bachelor of Education (Post Baccalaureate or Masters in Education would be an asset)

Minimum of five years of teaching experience.

Excellent knowledge and experience of provincial curriculum, pedagogy and assessment. Knowledge of K-8 curriculum would be an asset.

Strong problem-solving, interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.

Understanding and experience working in diverse communities.

Must have a valid Manitoba Drivers License

Ability to read, write, and speak in French would be an asset. How to apply
