cole Victoria-Albert School is a vibrant dual track French Immersion and English school, with an enrolment of approximately 320 students, offering the Nursery to Grade 6 English program and the Kindergarten to Grade 6 French Immersion Program. There is also an off-campus program, Wi Wabigooni, that supports grade 4-6 Indigenous students from the Winnipeg School Division.

cole Victoria-Albert is a culturally diverse school with many additional language learners. Its strength comes from its diversity, strong support of all families and creating a sense of belonging for everyone. The school prioritizes Indigenous Education, mathematics and literacy. The school honors the support of our community Indigenous Grandparents as we strongly engage in our path to Truth and Reconciliation.

Wide ranges of supports are in place to meet the challenges of students and newcomer families. These include, but are not limited to, our Community Support Worker, the WSD Intercultural Support Workers and our school clinicians. The staff is committed to high academic standards, strong inclusive practices and working collaboratively to maintain a strong focus on implementing effective instruction, assessment and differentiated strategies in a safe, welcoming school environment.

cole Victoria-Albert School works closely with and collaborates with the Victoria-Albert Daycare with both its pre-school daycare and school aged programs located on site.

Qualifications: Consideration will be given to applicants who have demonstrated the following qualifications and characteristics: Successful administrative and/or teaching experience at the early years level;

Be in the forefront of educational practices, well versed in curricula and open to transformational practices that improve outcomes for all students;

Commitment to Equity, Diversity and Inclusion in all aspects of school;

Ability to implement effective student assessment practices within the school and ensure that parents are well informed regarding their childs progress in school;

An enthusiastic and energetic person who will continue to inspire and challenge staff, hold high expectations of all learners and to ensure a positive working climate;

Experience at a French Immersion setting as well as proficiency in French language would be an asset;

Knowledge and experience in working with issues that arise in a diverse community, including but not excluded to migrancy, poverty, cultural awareness, lived experiences of all learners;

Ability to work with the community members from diverse backgrounds; support cultural learning activities at the school which respect and recognize all backgrounds;

Supportive of staff and their journey; recognize and value the unique abilities and strengths of staff members; is readily accessible through an open-door policy;

Knowledge and experience with programming for students with special needs and ability to work with school and divisional support staff in programming for students;

A person with a sense of humor, open-mindedness and compassion for everyone around;

A person who has strong interpersonal skills and empowers staff and parents to participate in the decision-making process and fosters ways of amplifying student and community voices;

Effective communicator, develops strong working relationships with the staff; demonstrated the ability to work as a team player;

Modeling restorative practices in leading conversations with staff and students;

Demonstrated effectiveness in working with the community and families, and the establishment of meaningful programming in support of them.
