ANISHINABEEMOWIN REVITALIZATION PROGRAM

FULL-TIME 100% PERMANENT

The Winnipeg School Division is committed to the Language and Culture call of action in the TRC. There is an urgency to preserve, revitalize, and strengthen Indigenous Languages. Isaac Brock School strives to create a unique environment to preserve the endangered Anishinabeemowin Language. Classroom Teachers in the Anishinabeemowin Bi-Lingual Program have the unique opportunity to contribute to this essential call by learning the language alongside their students and potentially reclaiming their own ancestral voice. Teachers do not need to currently speak either Anishinabeemowin. The Classroom Teacher works in a dynamic team with an Ojibwe Language Speaker and a nature- based learning Teacher. Together they collaborate to provide the students with rich language instruction, exemplary curricular instruction and uncovering curriculum through Indigenous ways of knowing and doing.Start Date: September 3, 2024

We are looking for candidates who:

Have a strong knowledge of Early Years pedagogy

Have a strong understanding of the ELA and Math curriculum and pedagogy

Are linguistically passionate about Language Revitalization and being a Language Learner alongside their students

Are committed to practicing and playing with the language they learn from the Language speaker with their students

Are fierce advocates for high expectations for all students, both in learning the language and in literacies and mathsQualifications:

Manitoba Teachers Certificate;

Dedication to anti-racism, equity, and diversity

Proven commitment to Truth and Reconciliation
