34.5 hours per week between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
Salary Range: Step 1: $47,415 Step 8: $70,661 POSITION SUMMARY Provide on-site support to children in the development of strategies for coping with personal, social, emotional, and/or behavioural issues.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: Respond to emergency or crisis situations
Provide direct assistance with behaviour management including observing, monitoring, and reporting
Provide emotional/social and behavioural support to students within classroom and school settings; specifically, students on the School Child and Youth Worker's Priority Caseload
Consult and assist school personnel in developing, implementing, modifying, and evaluating social skills, preventative strategies, and behavioural programs
Liaise with community agencies in support of specific children
Act as a resource person at school team meetings, parent meetings, system resource meetings, and community agency case conferences
Utilize the techniques of Behaviour Management System to safeguard student and staff safety when required
Contribute to the development of the Individual Education Plan/Action Plan
Recommend resource material
Facilitate and provide supervision for student placement practicums
Additional duties as assigned REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: A Child & Youth Worker diploma
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Strong organizational and time management skills
Demonstrated ability to work well as part of a professional team
Experience conducting individual and group Counseling session
Training in Behaviour Management Systems (BMS)
A minimum of one-year experience in this or related position involving programming for children with behaviour challenges
This position involves travel to schools within the Board, and therefore the successful candidate must have a reliable vehicle and a valid driver's license
