The Career Foundation is currently seeking full-time Advisor Support and Technical Specialist on behalf of one of our employer partners; a not-for-profit energy efficiency organization in Ontario.

The Advisor Support and Technical Specialist will be responsible for assisting the Supervisor by supporting, leading, coaching, and training Energy Evaluations (EE) team members who deliver administrative and technical knowledge to Energy Advisors (EAs) in the field. They will align with, deliver, and meet group targets, by ensuring program/individual/contractor targets are being met daily. They will work closely with EAs, both Internal and External Contractors, to ensure the quality of submitted files are meeting a high standard. They are also the first point of contact for Advisors regarding inquiries, service issues, technical questions, and/or conflicts.

Advisor Training and Support:

  • Communicate with EAs regarding data collected in-field and its accuracy
  • Support EAs with submissions, modelling, and availability of updated resources
  • Assist with project reporting by actively pulling data and updating tracking reports
  • Ensure that the implementation of all new processes, technology upgrades, and program updates are seamless and being adhered to by EAs
  • Assist in providing technical knowledge to EAs and company overall
  • Provide analysis and maintain data on the Advisor Scorecard:
    • Compile data for Advisor tracking/Scorecard reports to be used for interdepartmental meetings as well as executive meetings
    • Confirm identified discrepancies in data collected with Quality Assurance (QA) and Energy Modelling teams as required and communicate with EAs as necessary
    • Communicate with EAs regarding data collected in field and accuracy based on feedback obtained from the QA team
    • Assist with project reporting by updating tracking reports (Advisor outstanding uploads, problem files, and invoicing), as well as manage updates from Advisors
  • Maintain clear, concise, and positive relationships with EAs
  • Follow-up with Advisor requests within 24 hours or earlier and meet all their issues with resolution ensuring to escalate issues to Supervisor, as required
  • Ensure all Advisor communications are completed in accordance with company’s Mandate
  • Assist with training of new Advisors as well as re-training and refresher sessions to maintain quality of Advisors and their file submissions within the company or NRCan networks as it relates to Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) assessments and/or other  programs
  • Manage file uploads of External Advisors especially those that do not go through GIBS directly
  • Assist with quarterly refresher sessions to maintain quality of Advisors within the company’s networks
  • Proactively provide suggestions for process improvement for internal and external stakeholders as it relates to EE
  • Lead for Internal EAs and an intermediary between departments


Quality and Technical:

  • Provide HOT2000 modelling support/training for NRCan Energuide Rating System or any other program, as required
  • Delegate and monitor HOT2000 modelling based on Advisor provided data and respond to other modelling questions from Advisors or other teams
  • Assist with maintaining quality of NRCan submissions in correspondence with EnerGuide Rating System version 15 (ERS v.15)
  • Ability to assist in performing Level 2 to 3 Audits on all EAs’ files, with targets set per EA per month as follows:
    • One Level 2 Audit  – Upgrade Verification
    • One Level 3  Audit – File Assessment and Modelling Verification
  • Ensure minimal problem files for Federal program (can be expanded to other programs as required), targets:
    • Maintaining only 5-10% overall problem files per month
  • Work with EAs and Quality Assurance Specialists (QAS) to maintain quality of NRCan submissions
  • Provide technical support to Modelling, as required
  • Maintain knowledge with NRCan standards by continuing to perform or shadow energy audits



  • Ability to be the interface between EE, EA’s and the Scheduling team as required
  • Provide support, strategy input, and become involved in the initialization, training, as well as the technical components of any new programs
  • Coordinate with other departments to meet targets and deadlines and ensure files are uploaded, completed accurately and processed in a timely manner for all programs
  • Work independently, initiate process improvements within the team and take initiative to assist other members as required
  • Key Performance Indicator (KPI) monitoring, provide program and individual team targets support daily
  • Ensure modifications to targets are updated promptly and team members are realigned/advised on amendments including follow-up implementation monitoring
  • Ability to provide recommendations to Management on team organization, workload distribution plus develop/implement efficiencies


Minimum Requirements and Qualifications:

  • NRCan Certified Energy Advisor certificate
  • NRCan QAS certification or willing to obtain
  • Excellent Customer Service and Computer skills as well as a Professional demeanor
  • Knowledge or experience in Building Science, Home Construction or Home Inspections is a benefit
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team to engage businesses in funded energy conservation opportunities with minimal supervision
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, highly organized, attention to detail with a positive attitude and interest in the Energy and Environment sectors
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple competing priorities
  • Proficient in the use of MS Word, Excel and Web Based Applications with an aptitude to learn internal software and relevant applications
