Xerox Canada started 2016 on a high note when they were named one of Canada’s Top Employers for Young People. The announcement was part of an editorial competition organized by the Canada’s Top 100 Employers initiative, which has been recognizing the country’s leading businesses for the last 14 years.
Amongst the list of winners was Xerox Canada, recognized for its edge in attracting and retaining young talent in the computer equipment manufacturing industry. Here’s a more in-depth look at the factors that led to such accolade.
Xerox Canada has over 3,000 employees nationwide. Of that, the company dedicates a handful of opportunities for students through summer jobs, co-ops, and paid internships, while assisting through tuition subsidies.
Specifically, the Xerox Research Centre of Canada offers co-op and internship positions to current students. There, they’ll be surrounded by a world-class team of engineers and scientists, who specialize in a variety of fields.
The opportunity doesn’t stop there. Working at Xerox, students will also acquire valuable career development skills through in-house and online training, as well as peer support through the Xerox Young Professionals resource group.
The Sales Leadership Academy is an advanced training program designed for senior-level sales representatives at Xerox Canada. But as part of the Authorized Agent sales force, new hires will take advantage of the Professional Sales Academy Learning Continuum.
Launched in the fall of 2015, this training is focused on the company’s young professionals. During the 24-month program, all new grad hires within Xerox Authorized Agencies take on elaborate sales training, are exposed to the company’s product offerings and portfolios, receive ongoing support, and receive accreditation upon completion.
Global Careers @Xerox is an online tool for Xerox employees, entirely managed in Canada. This internal resource allows staff to build their professional profiles, document career accomplishments, and monitor global job openings company-wide. For students and new grads, this is an invaluable opportunity to internally advance their careers within Xerox.
In addition to being named one of Canada’s Top Employers for Young People in 2016, Xerox Canada is also one of Canada’s Best Diversity Employers and Greater Toronto’s Top Employers.
All recognitions are under the Canada’s Top 100 Employers project, and celebrate the company’s dedication to its people, community, inclusivity, and future.
